About Us

Our Story

Founded in April 2013, the Humane Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming Charitable Trust (HURRAH) is an independent, north Auckland based charity run solely by volunteers. Its objectives are to:

  • Rescue dogs with a proven temperament from euthanasia at council and privately operated pounds
  • Prevent unwanted pregnancies through desexing initiatives
  • Educate owners on the importance of removing their dog from a life on the chain

All of our dogs are spay/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, and registered before rehoming.

The Team

Chrissy Clements – Founder & Trustee

HURRAH is a deeply personal project for me. I love dogs. That so many are mistreated and unwanted is heartbreaking. I founded the Trust in 2013, with the aim of it becoming a ‘gold standard’ in dog rescue.

Chrissy holds a diploma in Canine Behaviour Training, is certified by MIT to microchip companion animals, holds a PetTech First Aid and CPR certificate and is a member of the following professional organisations: NZ Companion Animal Council, International Alliance of Holistic Therapists and the International Association of Linguistic Programming and Coaching.

Sarah Hepper – Trustee

Sarah joined HURRAH a few months after the Trust was founded and quickly became an integral part of the team, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge from her time with the SPCA. Sarah is is certified by MIT to microchip companion animals and holds a PetTech First Aid and CPR certificate.

Devin Grace – Adoptions Assistant

Devin has had a strong connection with dogs all her life and loves working with them in anyway possible. Devin joined the HURRAH team in 2015. She has just completed her Certificate in Animal Management (Canine Behaviour and Training), she also runs her own dog walking service called Devin’s Dog Services.
